Looking back at the 2nd Annual Pride Parade and Celebration at The Ballard Farmers Market

On June 9th, 2024, the Ballard Farmers Market hosted its 2nd Annual Pride Parade and Celebration. We kicked off the festivities with a lively and colorful shopper parade open to all. Shoppers, vendors, and market staff dazzled in their rainbow outfits, proudly showcasing their pride!

The parade wound through the entire market, signaling its official opening at 9 AM. Market staff led the way, proudly displaying the market's signature flags, while the TMB Brass Band filled the air with lively New Orleans tunes, making everyone dance and sing along. It was a truly festive atmosphere for everyone.

Several LGBTQ+ organizations joined the Ballard Farmers Market for the day including Seattle’s LGBTQ+ Center, Charlie’s Queer Bookstore, Rough & Tumble Pub, Rainier Roller Riot Derby Team, and Coopers Optique.

The celebration continued beyond the parade with an entertaining Drag Showcase in Bergen Park. Both hosting and performing was the extremely talented Miss Sasha Scarlett. The showcase featured dazzling performances by Cosmo, Marina Claire, Ember Royale, Cordelia Specifically, and Reign Farrah James. Their energy and talent had the crowd cheering throughout the event. The drag artists not only delivered captivating performances but also encouraged audience participation in a catwalk competition, with prizes donated by Ballard Farmers Market vendors.

It was an unforgettable day at the market, where the community came together to celebrate love, Pride, and the best of Washington State’s local food and goods. The joyous atmosphere, vibrant celebrations, and heartfelt connections made it a truly memorable event for all!
